Central East Liveable Streets Guardianship

Before 2010, Auckland’s approximately 7,124 kilometres’ worth of roads were maintained by a collection of 25 term service contracts. Upon the formation of Auckland Transport that year, it was decided to collect these 25 contracts into just nine, with the goal of creating a simpler, more effective system of maintaining Auckland’s vital road networks.

After a competitive tender process, HEB Construction was selected to adopt a “guardianship role” of the Central East contract, covering 479 km of road stretching from Orakei to the Tamaki River.

In this role, HEB’s scope is to manage and implement day to day maintenance of roads, kerbs, crossings and rail, in addition to taking on a 40% proportion of renewal activity within the Central East network.

HEB is committed to the people of Auckland’s Central East, and thanks to our quality of work we were awarded both of the two-year contract extensions.
