Watercare is upgrading the Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant and improving the quality of the treated water discharge.

The works are located at Parker Lane in Pukekohe and are now underway. They are expected to finish in 2022.

Resource consent was granted for upgrades to the Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant in Oct 2017.

Transmission network upgrades were recently completed reducing wet weather overflows and improving the capacity of the network.

The upgrades will also result in a significant improvement to the discharge water quality including Parker Lane stream and the Waikato River.

A community liaison group was established to discuss the operation of the plant and its upgrade with local residents and interested parties.

These essential upgrades will ensure that as Pukekohe and surrounding areas continue to grow Watercare can provide and maintain high quality reliable wastewater services while also protecting the environment.
