Port Otago Limited (POL) awarded a contract to HEB Construction for the design and construction of a 135m long extension to the existing 300m long existing Multipurpose (Container No 2) wharf at Port Chalmers.

The extension is to the north of, and on the same alignment, as the existing structures and is a multipurpose wharf designed to hold containerised cargo and associated handling equipment, including rail mounted container cranes, forklifts, straddle carriers and mobile cranes.

The wharf provides berthing, mooring and servicing facilities for container vessels up to nearly 150,000 tonne displacement and 8,000 TEU capacity.

Our team completed the work in September 2018 and received a Highly Commended accolade at the August 2019 CCNZ Awards Dinner in the $5M-$20M category.
