Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme
The Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme transformed Tāmaki Makaurau’s (Auckland) waterfront into a vibrant, resilient hub, integrating ferry terminal upgrades, wharf improvements, and public spaces like Te Wānanga.
Delivered in a live marine environment in the middle of the city, the project required innovative construction methods, including marine piling and prefabrication, to overcome access constraints and protect the surrounding environment and community.
Sustainability was core component of this project, which included initiatives such as installing kūtai (green-lipped mussels) to improve water quality and biodiversity.
This collaborative effort with mana whenua and Auckland Council has created a beautiful public space that enhances connectivity, supports economic growth, and restores the mauri of the Waitematā Harbour.
