Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme
Transformation for a liveable city.
HEB is proud to have been a part of building a world-class waterfront for a world-class city.
Auckland’s Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme has dramatically transformed the ferry terminal, Quay Street and Wynyard Quarter areas. These improvements will improve accessibility and flexibility for users – tourists and locals alike – and act as an important hub for public transport, leisure and shopping. Working in a collaborative model with Auckland Transport as part of the construction Joint Venture, careful planning of the construction staging and phasing ensured disruption was minimised throughout the project.
Construction of six new ferry berths on Queens Wharf, involving marine piling and concrete decks, plus installation of pontoons, gangways and canopies.
Construction of a new 700 metre seawall along Quay Street.
Enhancement of Quay Street, Galway Street and Lower Albert Street urban environment, including significant services relocation along Quay Street and upgrading underground services while Quay Street was being concreted and paved.
Construction of Te Wānaga, a new public space sitting next to and over the water.
